In 2004 we made the long drive to Florida to pick up my wonderful southern boy, Cajun. With a multipurpose pedigree that was packed full of talent, Cajun has certainly lived up to his potential. Cajun truly shone in the obedience ring. As are all my dogs, he was trained through to Utility before starting Novice and then just flew through his titles until he finished by earning the prestigious GMOTCh. With over 40 HITs to his name, Cajun also earned 200 scores from all classes - Novice, Open and Utility. Without a doubt, his favourite class to compete in was Utility. And articles are his absolute favourite thing to do. Even today, he still starts to "talk" when that article bag comes out, and he'll often "break" - tearing out to that pile before I can command him. Cajun loves to retrieve and in addition to his obedience titles has his WCX in both the US and Canada as well as his Master Hunter. He was best known for his blinds and is a super lining and handling dog. Cajun is a very handsome boy, although on the smaller side of the standard at just under 23". He has a level topline, balanced angles, correct loin, and a beautiful golden coat. He's also a ball fanatic! His reward for a HIT was always a new ball, though a hamburger would do in a pinch. Although he's no longer competing, he's still actively training, and I still love to heel with this dog! Who knows, maybe we'll bring him out again in Utility just for fun!! We lost my sweet boy at almost 14.5. A great age for a golden but I miss him everyday. |
